KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities in northwest Arizona say a Kingman man has been fatally shot after a reported home invasion.
The Mohave County Sheriff's Office says a deputy responded to a 911 call about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. A woman claimed someone had forced entry into her home and was attacking her 15-year-old son with a metal pipe.
When the deputy arrived, he says the suspect refused commands to drop the pipe and charged the officer.
The deputy then shot the man and he was declared dead at the scene.
Authorities have identified the man as 30-year-old William Patrick Bonnee.
They say Bonnee has an extensive criminal history with multiple past arrests by Kingman-area law enforcement.
The unidentified 25-year-old deputy has been placed on standard administrative leave while the shooting is being investigated.
