KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) — A domestic violence charge has led to the resignation of a high ranking member of the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

Lt. Ron Weber, a 22-year veteran of the department, was arrested Dec. 28 and charged with a misdemeanor assault per domestic violence that occurred in the early morning hours at Weber's Kingman home.

The alleged victim is Weber's wife.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Trish Carter said Weber submitted his resignation effective Jan. 29.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department recently completed its investigation and was expected to send its findings to the Kingman City Attorney's Office.

The Kingman city attorney was expected to recuse himself from the case because of the victim's employment with the city and will likely send the case to the Lake Havasu City Attorney's Office for possible prosecution.
