KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) — The Mohave County sheriff's office says a 53-year-old gun magazine editor has been arrested in the death of one of his friends.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter says a neighbor called 911 Wednesday afternoon and told dispatchers her neighbor had shot a man.

Police found 39-year-old James Patrick O'Neill dead of a rifle shot to the chest. Deputies arrested 53-year-old Richard Erick Venola of Golden Valley on a second-degree murder charge.

Venola and O'Neill had been drinking, but Carter says detectives don't know what led to the shooting. He declined to speak with detectives until he had a lawyer present.

Records available Thursday morning don't list the lawyer's name. He is due in court later in the day.

Guns & Ammo magazine lists Venola as its 12th editor.

Should they stay or should they go?

Arizona lawmakers are advancing a bill allowing business owners to ask people to leave if they have service animals that are out of control or are not housebroken. The proposal originally would have made it a Class 2 misdemeanor for a second violation of lying about having a service animal. Should lying about having a service animal be a crime in Arizona?
