Musicians from the West Valley and North Phoenix have met to organize a new community-based orchestra.

The new orchestra comprises teachers and part-time musicians, students who are taking private lessons and desire to play in a large ensemble and community musicians who want to “dust off” their instruments and become involved again in making music, organizers said.

Members of the new North Valley Symphony Orchestra have invited Kevin Kozacek to be the founding music director.

Kozacek recently served for nine seasons as the founding artistic director for ProMusica Arizona. His vision for the new orchestra is to “build community through music.”

If interested in joining the NVSO, or in helping to manage or sponsor the new organization in any way, email admin@northvalleysymphony.org.
