Banner Boswell Medical Center’s Outpatient Diagnostic Services department, located in the Lakes Medical Plaza at 10474 W. Thunderbird Blvd., Suite 100, has changed its name to Banner Lakes Imaging Center.
Located just north of Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City, Banner Lakes Imaging Center offers outpatient ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, positron emission tomography, computerized tomography and diagnostic X-ray.
Additionally, this spring Banner Boswell’s Mammography services and DEXA bone densitometry screening will be relocating from the hospital to Banner Lakes Imaging Center.
The new location provides patients with easy accessibility to parking, an expedited admitting process and the same skilled technologists.
Interventional breast services, including stereotactic biopsies and ultrasound biopsies of the breast, will remain at the main hospital in conjunction with medical imaging.
A new feature coming to the new location is the addition of digital mammography, made possible by a contribution from Sun Health Services.
“Digital mammography provides better imaging capabilities, particularly in younger women, women with dense breasts, women at high risk, women who have had prior biopsies and women with a personal history of breast cancer,” said Ann Schwartz, R.T.(M), supervisor of Women’s Diagnostic Services. “The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammograms starting at age 40, and sooner if you are considered at high risk for developing breast cancer.”
