George Sanders, 85, will find out on March 29 if he will spend the next decade in prison for killing his 81-year-old wife Ginger.

On Monday, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department released the interrogation videos from the night of the Nov. 9 shooting in Sun City.

“She never wanted to outlive me and be left at the mercy of someone else,” George told the MCSO detective in the video.

Ginger had a series of health problems including multiple sclerosis and a gangrene diagnosis on several of her toes, he said. George was her primary caregiver, but his health was also in decline. Just days before the shooting, doctors installed a pacemaker in his chest.

George told the investigator he did not want to kill his wife, but she begged him, saying “Do it, do it, do it.”

She was about to be hospitalized and eventually, placed in a nursing home where she thought she would die.

“I just let go,” he said referring to pulling the trigger.

Ginger did not die immediately from the gunshot wound to her head; it took two days for the Sun City woman to pass away.

In the video, George is seen laying his head down on a table and appears to cry.

He was originally charged with first degree murder, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

On Sunday, Sanders will turn 86 years old.
