West Valley group prepares to celebrate UN Day

The United Nations Association of the West Valley will celebrate UN Day on Oct. 22 in Sun City.

The featured speaker will be Chandrima Das, policy and research manager for the Better World Campaign, which is the advocacy arm of the United Nations Foundation.

The event will be a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. at the Arbor Room of Royal Oaks Retirement Center in Sun City.

Prior to working for the Better World Campaign, Das worked on the staff of the U.S. Institute of Peace, specializing in negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution, and with the CHF International in Sudan, where she worked on development programs and combating gender-based violence.
