Trust the Sun City Players Community Theater with a change of pace from triumphant ‘Two By Two’ to a show with its own, sometimes amusing, twists and turns.

“Night of January 16th” by Ayn Rand will play April 13 through the 22 at Mountain View Center in Sun City.

This closing play of the current season will draw you into a courtroom drama that could further involve you if you volunteer and are chosen to serve on the jury, where Karen Andre is to be tried for the murder of Bjorn Faulkner. Was he pushed or did he jump from the penthouse of the Faulkner Building on a brisk winter New York City day?

A cast of 21, sans jury, is preparing for a complicated trial with Director Joyce Hutchins at the helm. The cast is Dan Eldridge (Judge Heath), Elanna Donovan (Defendant Karen Andre) Bill Loslo (Defense Counsel Stevens), Roland Miller (Prosecutor Flint). Mim Grumstrup (Prison Matron), Brad Wiggen (Bailiff), Jeanette Knapp (Clerk of Court), Bob Budorick (County Medical Advisor Kirkland), Sharon Nichols (Mrs. John Hutchins), Gregory Engstrom (Private Investigator Van Fleet), Margaret Casey (Nursemaid Bridget Murphy), Phil English (Inspector of Police Sweeney), Lavina Dawson (Nancy Lee Faulkner), Anna Thompson (Joanna Graham Whitfield), Greta Paulsen (Bookkeeper Signe Jungquist), Pat Cook (Jane Chandler), Ron Bush (Gangster ‘Guts’ Regan) and Bob Anderson (Foreman of the Jury). Three standby jurors, Ann Case, Carolyn Pringle and Wally Walston, will supplement those who volunteer for jury duty upon arrival before each performance by submitting their ticket with their name on the back to an usher. From these names the jury selection will take place. Those selected at each performance will have the best seats in the house.

Reserved tickets, $8 check or cash only, go on sale at Fairway Center Lobby, Del Webb and Peoria avenues, Sun City, starting Monday. Tickets will be on sale from 10 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday and one hour before each performance at Mountain View Center, 9749 N. 107th at Mountain View Road, Sun City. There will be 2 p.m. matinees April 15, 19 and 22 and four 7 p.m. shows April 13, 14, 20 and 21. Online sales are $8 plus a $2 online fee (Visa or MasterCard) at suncityplayerscommunitytheater.org. There is a maximum online fee of $10 for the first five tickets per customer. For information, call 623-972-9421.
