The staff at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center in Sun City West is collecting children’s books for Adelante Healthcare in Wickenburg and Surprise.
“The youngest patients and family members of the clinic face multiple challenges and literacy is chief among them,” said Joe Jicha, Banner Del E. Webb quality director.
Last year, staff, volunteers and community members donated more than 1,000 books to the clinic.
The book drive will run from Wednesday until Nov. 26. The public is welcome to bring in donations to drop boxes located in the hospital’s east, main and Women’s Center entrances.
Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center is located at 14502 W. Meeker Blvd.
“You can find children’s books at your local garage sales,” said Jicha, who is organizing the drive for the second year. “Or this might be a good time to clean out some of the extras you have around the house from your own children.”
