Larry Swanson, conductor of the Sun City Pops Band, has prepared a musical extravaganza honoring all who have fought, defended and worked on the home front in support of the nation’s conflicts.
This free concert is at the Sundial Auditorium, 103rd Avenue and Boswell Boulevard, Sun City, at 2 p.m. Nov. 18.
Swanson will include music starting with the Revolutionary War through and including current Middle East conflicts. The audience will hear authentic music played, sung and marched to, such as the “The Star-Spangled Banner” from the War of 1812; the music from “MASH” from the Korean War; John Williams’ “Hymn For The Fallen” for the Middle East conflicts and John Phillip Sousa’s “The Star and Stripes Forever.” Meet the original Rosie the Riveters, Arizona Chapter, from World War II.
There will be a free drawing for a three-day stay, worth $1,000, at the Pacific Terrace Hotel on the beach in San Diego. Upon entering Sundial, attendees will receive a two-part numbered ticket. Put half of it in the hopper for the drawing.
