By the end of August, Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb medical centers will make it easier for patients to communicate with families and friends by providing free Internet access during their stay.
A guest wireless network account will be automatically generated when a patient is admitted, complete with instructions for logging on. The account is deactivated when the patient leaves the hospital.
“Communication means everything when a loved one is in the hospital,” said John Harrington, Jr., CEO of the non-profit Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center. “We understand the importance of everyone staying connected and how that contributes to excellent patient care.”
“Although Internet access is free, the benefits are priceless because communication is among the most important aspects of the care we provide – among staff, patients and families -- and enhances the patient experience,” said Dave Cheney, CEO at the non-profit Banner Boswell Medical Center.
The Internet gives patients, families and guests an easy way to stay connected with the outside world while in the hospital. Having the Internet available allows access to e-mail, Facebook, Twitter and even Banner Health’s new CarePages, a free service accessed on http://www.bannerhealth.com/">www.BannerHealth.com that offers patients the opportunity to keep friends and family updated regarding their health status.
