Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio broke his left shoulder Thursday.

This is the official statement from his office:

"Sheriff Joe Arpaio is in excellent spirits this afternoon, hours after taking a spill which caused a break in his left shoulder.  Arpaio says his doctors at St Joseph’s Hospital are terrific particularly when giving him the news that surgery will not be necessary.  Arpaio joked with the emergency staff about being happy the injury was to his left arm not his right as he needs his right arm for his Smith and Wesson and his Smith Corona!  He is expected to return to work in a few days."

[sad] Here is another theory, maybe he is afraid of what his predecessor will find out once they are in as the County's NEW SHERIFF. However, he will make sure someone that is VERY, VERY, VERY close to him takes over with the same "game plan". Better get cleaning stuff up Joe you can't live forever

[beam] This just reaffirms that with Joe's 81 birthday this month he is WAYYYYYY past retiring. I am still trying to understand how he won this past November election and all that I can come up with is that through all his years here in Arizona and ALL HIS YEARS as our Sheriff, he has a LOT on a LOT of people. I refuse to believe he was actually voted in by the public again. With the companies out there and have been out there in this back economy that just continues and continues on, there is no hope for anyone really over 40 of getting any DECENT work. Yet, this state keeps a man that should have retired over a decade ago on in one of the biggest roles for the County of Maricopa. Unbelieveable and I am not a new comer to this state, I have been here for 38 years. I am going to check and see if there is another sheriff in this country with a county as big as Maricopa still working. TIME TO GO JOE.....
