Cactus League schedules set for NW Valley teams

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The holiday season means it’s time for Northwest Valley baseball fans to get ready for the upcoming Cactus League campaign.

Six major-league teams call the Northwest Valley their spring homes. Schedules and ticket information have been released for all of those teams.

The Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers train at Camelback-Ranch Glendale.

The San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners train at the Peoria Sports Complex.

The Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers make their spring home at the Surprise Recreation Campus.

Single-game tickets for home games involving all of those teams go on sale Jan. 9. Season tickets and mini-ticket plans already are available.

Here are news and notes from the Cactus League schedule:

• The Diamondbacks will make six visits to the Northwest Valley, making two stops each in Glendale, Peoria and Surprise.

The Diamondbacks will play in Surprise on March 14 against Texas and on April 1 against Kansas City.

In Peoria, the Diamondbacks will play the Mariners on March 20 and oppose the Padres in a 7 p.m. game on March 29.

The Diamondbacks will play in Glendale on March 10 against the Dodgers and on March 24 against the White Sox.

• Peoria is the place to go if you’re interested in watching baseball under the stars. Peoria will play host to five night games, all starting at 7:05 p.m. That includes a March 29 game against San Diego.

Glendale and Surprise will each play host to three night games. The night games at Surprise begin at 6:05 p.m., while the games begin at 7:05 p.m. at Camelback Ranch.

• Don’t plan on going to Surprise if you want to see the Cincinnati Reds.

The Reds are the latest team in the Cactus League lineup, joining the Cleveland Indians at Goodyear Ballpark. However, the Reds do not make any visits to Surprise this season.

The Reds will play twice in Peoria (March 26-27) and once in Camelback Ranch (March 12).
