The double drive through at the Dutch Bros Coffee near the southwest corner of 83rd Avenue and Thunderbird Road pumps out orders left and right.
The establishment has seen lines in excess of 20 cars during peak times.
But coffee fiends will be happy to know a new Dutch Brothers is set to open to alleviate those lines. And don’t worry, the new location will come in on 1.38 acres just across the street near the northeast corner of 83rd Avenue and Thunderbird Road, just south of the Culvers.
The Peoria Planning Commission approved a Conditional Use Permit to allow for the construction of the new drive-through coffee shop and a covered patio area, Nov. 17.
Jennifer Stein, a spokeswoman for the city, said the new location could open by spring, once the planning site plan, building permits and construction are complete.
“I believe that the new location is primarily intended to absorb the overflow of customers from the current store, which has been so successful that it has created very long lines at the drive-throughs,” she said. “The new store will have significantly more space to accommodate vehicles waiting in the drive-through lanes in an orderly fashion, as well as the capacity to serve more customers in a shorter amount of time.”
The new location will include two drive-through lanes curving in a u-shape from the west to east through the lot where drive-through cars will exit facing west. The new location will be able to accommodate up to 33 cars in the drive-throughs. Also included will be a 1,037 square-foot outdoor dining patio area.
