Linda man hurt in wreck

A Linda man suffered major leg injuries Friday afternoon when his car left Highway 70 and hit a wooden post, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Duane Cornett, 57, was driving south near the Bear River bridge about 2:35 p.m. in a 1991 Ford Escort when he failed to notice that cars ahead had stopped for a traffic signal. He applied his brakes and swerved to the right, colliding with a post supporting the signal, the CHP said.

The CHP was providing traffic control until the signal was repaired.

Cornett was taken by ambulance to Rideout Memorial Hospital and treated for multiple leg fractures.

Alcohol or drugs were not factors in the accident, the CHP said.
