What do you know about America? Take our quiz
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Today, many of us will hoist American flags, attend barbecues festooned in red, white and blue and stand shoulder-to-shoulder to watch colorful fireworks illuminate the night sky.
But before the newest Americans among us get to such celebrations, they'll be sworn in as citizens in ceremonies from George Washington's Mount Vernon to Walt Disney World in Florida - after passing a test and promising six things, of course.
You can try your hand at the test via our quiz, below. It takes its questions - all about American government, history and geography - directly from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the federal organization that administers the test required to become an American citizen.
As for the promises? Well, if you'd like to see how you're measuring up, they are: to give up loyalty to other countries; to defend the Constitution; to obey the laws of the United States; to serve in the U.S. military if needed; to serve the nation if needed; and to be loyal to the United States.
Happy Fourth of July, indeed.
