WANTED: El Mirage rounds up warrant violators
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The El Mirage Police Department along with support from other state and local law enforcement agencies this morning conducted a roundup of wanted persons in the city.
The roundup began at 6 a.m. when officers began the search for specific individuals with outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants, police said.
The department planned the early-morning roundup of about 50 officers in order to catch these individuals at their homes, police said.
If the people were at home, the officers made the arrests on the spot, taking them back to a command post at the El Mirage Police Department for processing. If the officers did not contact the wanted persons at their homes, they will be checking their workplaces and other locations throughout the day.
Today's roundup included a total of 250 active misdemeanor and felony warrants issued for individuals in El Mirage and surrounding communities, according to police. The warrants have been issued for a variety of crimes including criminal traffic offenses, drug charges, burglary, domestic violence, assault, robbery, gang-related crimes and one for homicide, officials said.
At the end of today's roundup, any un-served warrants will be distributed to police officers and fugitive details to continue the search for these wanted persons.
The El Mirage Police Department plans to conduct several more unannounced warrant roundups throughout the year.
Anyone with information regarding fugitives or wanted persons is encouraged to call the El Mirage Police Department at 623-433-9500.
