Sun City/West Valley NOW focuses on women, children
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The next SunCities/West Valley NOW meeting will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Unitarian Church of Surprise, 17540 N. Avenue of the Arts, Surprise.
Carolyn Modeen, of the Sun City/West Valley NOW group, will present the Golden Apple Award to Shirley McAllister, who is the chair of the legislature in District 9 and also runs the Westside Democratic headquarters.
McAllister was chosen for the Golden Apple Award because she sees the need for Decomcratic women in public office to improve the living conditions for women and children in Arizona.
After the presentation of the Golden Apple Award, Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, who serves as the assistant leader to the Democratic Caucus in the House of Representatives and represents Central Phoenix District 15, will be speaking. Her topic is "What's Happening at the state Legislature in Relation to Women and Children."
