Record heat may continue until weekend

The high temperature on Tuesday was 88 degrees, breaking the old mark of 86 set in 1949.
Monday's official high was 87, a degree warmer than the 86 posted in 1990.
In Sun City on Tuesday, the thermometer hit 79, while in Sun City West it was 83. Sun City Grand topped out at 80.
The norm for this time of year is 74 degrees.
Yuma tied its daily high on Tuesday, also reaching 88. That equaled the record first set in 1949 and again in 1995.
The National Weather Service is forecasting this heat wave to continue before a slight cooling trend during the weekend.
Maximum temperatures in the mid-80s are expected through Friday. The record highs over those days are, respectively, 88, 89 and 88.
Saturday will mark the cool down's start, and by next Tuesday, highs will be in the mid-70s - still warmer than average but far closer to normal.
