Glendale tennis facility earns national honors
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Glendale's Paseo Racquet Center was recently named "Tennis Facility of the Year" by the United States Tennis Association.
In addition, the Prudhomme family, which includes Ed Prudhomme, facility director; Greg Prudhomme, head pro and coach for Grand Canyon University's men and women's teams; and Brian Prudhomme, master clinician, has been awarded the distinction of "Tennis Family of the Year" by the USTA.
"It is extremely rare for both the operator of a tennis facility and the facility itself to get recognized in this manner, in the same year," said Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation Bill Schwind. "The city of Glendale is very honored by this award, and congratulations go to the Prudhomme family."
On the heels of receiving these accolades, the Paseo Racquet Center also was graced with new, contemporary artwork on the exterior of the facility. In January, the Glendale Arts Commission selected two local artists to incorporate a contemporary look and feel to update the center's entrance. The artwork, entitled Taking Flight, was designed by Kristine Kollasch and Felicie Regnier. The Parks & Recreation Department installed updated signage for the facility recently, as well, giving the center a new look.
Paseo Racquet Center, at 6268 W. Thunderbird Road, which opened in 1991, offers tennis clinics and private lessons for both adults and children, in addition to court rentals, a pro shop and more. The facility is owned by the city of Glendale, and leased and operated by Ed Prudhomme.
