2010 Tournament of Roses
The sights and sounds await at the 2010 Tournament of Roses and 121st Annual Pasadena Rose Parade. Travelers will spend three nights, Dec. 30 through Jan. 2, at the Hilton in Universal City. The trip also includes two full breakfasts at the hotel, a boxed breakfast and a lunch at the J.W. Marriott Lakeview Restaurant in Palm Springs. Other features include dinner at Bucca di Beppo, a tour of the Irwindale Float Barn, and shopping at the Farmers Market and Universal City Walk. Cost is $799 each, double occupancy, $1,099 single occupancy.
English Rose tea room and Brass Armadillo Antique Store
Spend a day at the English Tea Room in Cave Creek for English tea Jan. 15. Guests will be served a variety of tea sandwiches, two types of scones dusted with powdered sugar, served with strawberry preserves and “real” devon cream. In addition, there will be a seasonal selection of petit fours, miniature cakes and pastries. Guests will have a choice of an array of teas. After indulging, the rest of the afternoon will be spent at the Brass Armadillo Antique Store, which offers thousands of one-of-a-kind items. Cost is $69 a person.
Valley of the Sun tour
Take a tour of the Valley of the Sun and learn about the past and present of the metropolitan Phoenix area Jan. 20. A professional tour guide will lead the trip to Carefree, Old Town Scottsdale, Tempe, Phoenix, Chase Field, home of the Diamondbacks, U.S. Airways Center, home to the Suns, Federal Court House, Arizona Center and the State Capital. Cost is $40 a person.
Scottsdale Culinary Institute & Scottsdale Trolley
Take a tour to the Scottsdale Culinary Institute, where visitors will have the opportunity to taste the creations of our future chefs on Jan. 22. L’Ecole features a complete meal of several courses offered at a fixed price. The six-course menu, created by master chefs, highlights the classic cuisine of France. This is a private luncheon for only the tour group and will take about two hours. From there, guests will board the Scottsdale Trolley and tour Old Town, Main Street Art District, Marshall Way Art District, Fifth Avenue shops and the new Waterfront complex. Cost is $69 a person.
