When Kathleen McGeever heard that Valley View Community Food Bank urgently needed funds to continue providing food to needy West Valley families, she decided to act.
McGeever is the president of Soul Benefactors, a local charitable organization that produces variety shows to raise money for other charities and non-profit groups in the Northwest Valley. She and other members of her board of directors met with food bank director Jesse Ramirez, and they agreed that Soul Benefactors would produce two shows this month.
Soul Benefactors is comprised of approximately 50 singers, dancers and comedians. Many are or were professional performers.
The show, entitled "Ain't We Got Fun", will include musical highlights from the decades 1920 through 2000. Proceeds from ticket sales and donated non-perishable food donations will help Valley View to continue serving those in need of assistance. First Presbyterian Church of Sun City, Temple Beth Shalom and Unity Church of Sun City have joined together as co-sponsors of this fund-raising effort.
There will be two performances Nov. 10-11 at Temple Beth Shalom, at 12202 N 101st Ave, Sun City, two blocks south of Grand Ave.: November 10 and 11, 2009. For show times, place and ticket information see the organization's Web site at soulbenefactors.com or call 623-328-8641.
