9 candidates line up for 6 seats on SCHOA board

This week’s election for the Sun City Home Owners Association board is bucking a trend: There are more candidates than open seats. Nine people are running for six openings on the board. "We actually had 10 candidates for a while there, but we had one withdraw," said Bill Szentmiklosi, SCHOA compliance manager. "We attribute the interest mostly to the changes we’ve made in the organization." Over the past two years, Szentmiklosi said SCHOA has garnered positive publicity. "Our financial assistance program, the community intervention program, they’ve been really successful," he said. "We’ve accomplished a lot in the past 18 months. I think people see that, and I think they want to be a part of it." The election will be Friday and Saturday at the SCHOA offices, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. A vendor fair will be up and running Friday, and candidates will be present that day to speak to voters. MEET THE SCHOA CANDIDATES
