Lions Club nixes glass recycling program
Comments 0 | Recommend 0
Sun City Lions Recycling has removed its glass bins from its recycling areas. Paul Yopps, president of the program, said the organization wasn’t generating income from glass collections and removed the bins this weekend. "The market is down on glass right now, so we decided to get rid of them," said Yopps, who also is vice president of the Lions Club. "If it ever picks up again, we would consider starting again, but it’s just not feasible." Glass bins were at three locations, including 107th and Peoria avenues behind the Dollar General Store; 99th Avenue and Greenway near the Dollar Tree and Bell Road and Del Webb Boulevard behind Safeway. Yopps said there aren’t any other places to recycle glass. "People are probably just going to have to throw glass in the trash," Yopps said.
