Showers sprinkle across West Valley
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A storm system ushered in cooler weather and rain this weekend across the West Valley.
Sun City West recorded .08 inches of rain. Sun City Grand recorded .06 inches of rain, the first measureable precipitation in the community since Sept. 4 when .04 inches fell, said Matt Tantillo, a Daily News-Sun weather watcher. No measureable precipitation was recorded at the Daily News-Sun weather gauge on Santa Fe Drive in Sun City.
The storm caused scattered showers throughout the Valley and snow in the higher elevations. The Cave Creek and Carefree area received the most rain and "very small" hail, said Mike Bruce, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Phoenix office.
The high temperatures in Sun City West and Sun City Grand were below normal for the end of November — 65 and 66, respectively. Sun City recorded a high of 71.
The normal high around this time of year is 70, with a normal low around 46, Bruce said. This morning’s lows in the Sun Cities were 52 in Sun City, 47 in Sun City West and 45 in Sun City Grand.
