Cable channels pick up Obama's address at ASU
Comments 0 | Recommend 0As it does each May, Arizona State University is graduating thousands of students today.
However, this year's festivities will be different because of one attendee who won't be picking up a degree.
President Obama is delivering the commencement address at Sun Devil Stadium before a crowd of more than 8,000 graduates and a total of about 70,000 spectators. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., with the president beginning his speech roughly an hour later.
"I can think of no more important speaker than President Obama to address them, as they emerge from the university into a world that needs their talent and leadership," ASU President Michael Crow said in a written statement.
For those left outside the stadium who want to look in, ASU plans a live broadcast of the entire event, from opening performances through the president's address.
Beginning at 4:45 p.m., the broadcast will be available online (www.asu.edu/gradlive) and on cable television - Cox Cable channel 116 and Qwest Choice channel 138.
