El Mirage police arrest man with warrant out of Surprise
Comments 0 | Recommend 0El Mirage police arrested a man Friday night after receiving a call for shots fired from a vehicle, officials said.
Melvaughn Jenkins, who had an outstanding warrant from Surprise police, was taken into custody by El Mirage police.
Officers responded to a call near Main and Valentine streets in El Mirage. Witnesses told authorities the shots appeared to come from a white vehicle that "left the area at a high rate of speed."
Police discovered the vehicle in dirt field on Main Street just north of Meyer Lane. The vehicle had casings on the driver's seat, police said.
Jenkins was found at residence several houses away from the field. He later told police he fired rounds in order "to intimidate another subject he saw on Main Street."
El Mirage police retrieved a gun at the residence where they found the suspect.
