Peoria fire begins annual toy drive Nov. 21

The Peoria Fire Department and the Peoria Firefighter Charities have joined together for the 2009 Christmas for Underprivileged Children Toy Drive and Holiday Party.

The department will collect new, unwrapped toys (please no stuffed animals) Nov. 21 through Dec. 18 at all Peoria Fire Stations and the following locations:

Peoria City Hall, 8401 W. Monroe St.

Peoria Public Safety Administration Building, 8351 W. Cinnabar Ave.

Peoria Unified School District Administration Center, 6330 W. Thunderbird Road.

Sun West Federal Credit Union, 16879 N. 75th Ave., Suite 103A.

Theater Works, 8355 W. Peoria Ave.

Peoria Fire Stations:

191 - 8095 W. Peoria Ave.

192 - 18900 N. 89th Ave. (89th Avenue, south of Union Hills Drive)

193 - 8330 W. Emile Zola (1/4 mile south of Thunderbird)

194 - 9800 W. Olive Ave.

195 - 23100 N. Lake Pleasant Road.

196 - 28251 N. El Mirage Road (Vistancia community)

197 - 7758 W. Jomax Road.

Last holiday season, the drive provided enough toys for 144 families, encompassing 463 children. This is the 15th year for the toy drive.

The Holiday Party is geared for children age 13 and under. The toys will be given to the children by Santa at a Holiday Party Dec. 25 at the Peoria Community Center, 8335 W. Jefferson St.
