Peoria police ID sex offender

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

A convicted sex offender has moved into a Peoria neighborhood, police said Wednesday.

Joe R. Vigil, 69, has moved into the 10400 block of North 89th Avenue.

Vigil was convicted in 1991 in the Maricopa County Superior Court on one count of attempted sexual assault with a female child who was known to him and one count of attempted molestation of a child with a female who was known to him.

The Peoria Police Department released the information according to state law that requires law enforcement agencies to inform the public when the release of information will enhance public safety and protection.

Vigil has served the sentence imposed on him by the courts and has advised the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office where he will be living, police said. He is not wanted by the Peoria Police Department at this time, police said.

Anyone with information regarding current criminal activity involving Vigil or any offender should call 623-773-8311.
