Park opening put on hold

Work continues on the new park in El Mirage on El Mirage Road south of Peoria Avenue.

El Mirage officials said the city will open the new 13-acre park by Aug. 1. The park will have ramadas, two basketball courts, a central pavilion, splash pads and dog park.

Lance Calvert, El Mirage public works director, said the park had been scheduled to open on July 4, but "some extra details with the splash pads and other items needed to be worked out first."
