Police probe closes intersection
Comments 0 | Recommend 0No injuries were reported this morning after an officer-involved shooting in Sun City.
The incident began in the area of 99th Avenue and Union Hills Drive at approximately 6 a.m., when undercover Peoria police officers observed a suspect, Darren Eugene McBride, attempting to steal something from a nearby vehicle. An officer approached McBride, who fled the scene in his own vehicle. Police officials said McBride drove his vehicle toward an officer as though McBride was going to hit the officer. The officer fired once and hit the vehicle.
Police pulled over McBride and arrested him. He is facing charges of aggravated assault on an officer.
Union Hills Drive was closed in both directions from 99th Avenue while police investigated.
