Northern maintains league-leading pace

Northern Trust maintained its 2½-game lead on Thursday with a 7-4 win over Liberty Buick during Sun Cities National League softball at Liberty Field in Sun City West.

Cindy Gilbert delivered the game’s lone extra-base hit with a triple for the winners. Tom Haroldson earned the pitching victory.

DESERT ROSE 8, SATURN 6

Bob Colli had three hits with a double and Kim Peterson had a three-run triple for Desert Rose, which knocked Saturn out of second place.

Ed Ritzman and Roger Stone each had three hits in the win.

Dennis Hagerty doubled twice for Saturn.

Bruce Stannard tripled in the loss.
