Police seek suspects in north Sun City shooting
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A man in far north Sun City was shot early Friday morning, and authorities are looking for the suspects.
Doug Matteson, a spokesman for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, said the shooting occurred shortly after 5 a.m. in the 23000 block of North El Frio Court, a neighborhood near 117th Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road. Three adult males approached the house and knocked on the front door, police said.
The victim, an adult male in his 30s, answered the door. The suspects and the victim engaged in a verbal altercation before the suspects returned to their vehicle, police said.
“They got in the car, started to slowly pull away and then shots rang out,” Matteson said.
The victim was hit once. He was airlifted to John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital in critical condition. As of early Friday afternoon, Matteson said the victim's condition had not changed. There were believed to be three children asleep in the home, but no one else was injured.
There is no information about the suspects or the vehicle in which they fled the scene.
“We do not have a description at this time,” Matteson said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office at 602-876-1000.
