Tentative timeline for new pickleball courts announced

Daily News-Sun

The governing board of the Recreation Centers of Sun City West released a tentative project timeline for new pickleball courts at its workshop meeting Friday.

The project comes after much discussion and debate regarding the need for expanded playing areas for the community's growing pickleball club. The solution to construct six new courts at the Kuentz Tennis Center, was announced at last month's workshop meeting.

Funding in the amount of $200,000 for the new pickleball courts is already included in the upcoming 2008-2009 budget but the release of the funds is still contingent upon approval of the governing board at its May 22 regular meeting.

Following the approval for spending on the project, consultation with an architect and concept drawings will take place, likely by mid-June.

Construction will likely begin on the new courts in January 2009 and the project has a tentative completion date of March 2009, according to the board's projected timeline.
