Surprise Today

Surprise has been named one of Money Magazine and CNNMoney.com’s 2009 "25 Best Places to Retire."

Writers gave Surprise high marks for spring training facilities, proximity to White Tank Mountain Regional Park and first-class tennis and golf facilities.

Real estate choices at reasonable prices were also cited as an attraction for active seniors.

"People of all ages have made Surprise a place of opportunity and connection," says City Manager Randy Oliver. "The mayor, council and I appreciate that Money Magazine and CNNMoney.com recognize the tremendous offerings we have for our residents."

Some of the other cities joining Surprise on the list are: Port Charlotte, Fla.; Palm Springs, Calif.; Virginia Beach, Va.; Pinehurst, N.C.; Boulder City, Nev.; Fredericksburg, Texas; Savannah, Ga.; Traverse City, Mich.; Lakewood, Colo.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Bella Vista, Ark.; Miami, Fla.; Lake St. Louis, Mo.; Roanoke, Va.; Providence, R.I.; and Broken Arrow, N.M.
