Birt's Bistro offers programs for all ages

Interfaith Community Care’s Birt’s Bistro and Bookstore, 16752 N. Greasewood St., is designed to offer people of all ages a place to socialize, meet new people, learn new things and enjoy a healthy meal.

Birt’s offers numerous classes each month for all ages. Made-to-order sandwiches, soup du jour, salads, and an array of hot and cold specialty drinks are also available throughout the day. In addition, Birt’s offers catering services.

Birt’s is open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and provides attendees with entertainment, exercise and educational programs. Birt’s also offers a used bookstore with a selection of books available for purchase, as well as free Wi-Fi access. All purchases made at Birt’s Bistro and Bookstore support Interfaith Community Care’s programs and services. 

Social workers are available in the information and referral offices in Birt’s to provide support and help for those seeking community resources.

The following are next week’s planned events at Birt’s Bistro:
• 1 p.m. Tuesday -- Learn about the importance of monitoring blood pressure and the best ways to do so from Dr. Chris Rainer.
• 2:30 p.m. Tuesday -- Learn the benefits of healthy breathing and progressive relaxation from Kathy Siefert.
• 11 a.m. Wednesday -- Author Lucynda Murray shares her inspiring story, “I Survived the First Half of My Life (My Cinderella Story).”
• 12 p.m. Wednesday -- Book club meeting.
• 3 p.m. Wednesday -- Regina Thibideau discusses the possibilities and potential value of old costume jewelry. Bring up to three pieces of old jewelry.
• 1 p.m. Thursday -- Learn how to make cards using the Iris Paper Folding craft. Cost is $7.
• 1 p.m. Friday -- Learn how to stage your house from Donna Jamison.
