Capitol tree stops in Glendale for centennial celebration
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Glendale’s mayor and council, a representative from Arizona’s Capitol Tree Committee, city staff and students from Glendale High School and Landmark Middle School will gather at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 12 to honor the first Capitol Christmas tree from Arizona.
The Capitol tree, making its way through the Valley on its way from the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest to Washington, D.C., will stop for a visit in Glendale as part of Glendale’s centennial celebration.
Students, who have created ornaments to travel with the tree to Washington, will decorate the Glendale Glitters Centennial tree, with Santa Claus on hand to help out.
The public is invited to the celebration in downtown Glendale, Murphy Park, 58th and Glendale avenues (south side of park – the tree will be parked along north side of Glendale Avenue).
Glendale is recognizing this historic occasion for Arizona, while celebrating its centennial and preparing for the holidays with its own traditional holiday event, Glendale Glitters.
