A man is expected to recover after a possible seizure caused him to drive his car into a Sun City West golf course lake on Friday morning.

Sun City West fire officials said the man, whose name has not been released, likely had a seizure, which caused him to drive his Ford Taurus station wagon onto the Grandview Golf Course and into a lake near hole 18 as he was traveling eastbound on Meeker Boulevard. An unidentified driver traveling behind the victim saw what happened and pulled the man to safety. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

"The initial report is a possible seizure," said Jim Heger, deputy chief for the Fire District of Sun City West.

The man was the lone passenger in the vehicle and was transported to Banner Del Webb Medical Center for a check-up, but is expected to be all right, Heger said.

"He didn't look injured. He was speaking to paramedics on scene," he said.

The Fire District of Sun City West, Surprise Fire Department and Maricopa County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
