In partnership with United Blood Services, Banner Thunderbird Medical Center is sponsoring a blood drive July 10
Banner Thunderbird employees and the public are invited to donate blood from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in conference rooms 1, 2 and 3, located at the east end, lower level of the hospital.
Each individual who donates blood will be entered to win a Saturn Aura and will receive a free cholesterol screening.
Other benefits for donating blood include the Blood Buddies program. Those referring a new donor will receive one free movie pass. They should let the United Blood Services employee know when they arrive or the new donor arrives. The new Hero in Us rewards program is for all donors, new or existing. As part of the rewards program donors receive reward points to redeem at the UBS merchandise store including movie tickets, gift cards, music CDs and video games.
The blood donation process takes about an hour with the actual donation taking approximately 10 minutes. Donors should eat well and drink plenty of water starting three to four days prior to donation. Most medications do not exclude a person from donating blood.
