Alzheimer's film to screen in Peoria
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The movie "You Are Here," which screens in Peoria, Dec. 8, is a drama inspired by medical facts of Alzheimer’s disease but filtered through the mind of a creative artist, according to writer-director Tim Jeffrey.
"It's kind of 'A Beautiful Mind' meets 'The Sixth Sense,'" he said, referring to a surprise twist near the end of his movie that changes the meaning of events that occur earlier in the story.
The film stars Lizzy Chamberlain as a woman whose midlife crisis may be more serious than it seems. The film chronicles the life of a busy career professional as she recognizes and copes with memory loss and behavior changes. The film also realistically depicts the toll early Alzheimer’s disease has on family and friends.
The 78-minute "You Are Here" screens at 1 p.m. Dec. 8 at Rio Vista Recreation Center, 8866 W. Thunderbird Road, Peoria. There is no charge to attend the screening. but reservations are required. Seating is limited. To RSVP, call Banner Sun Health Research Institute at 623-875-6565.
Jeffrey, a Michigan-based filmmaker, will take part in a post-screening question-and-answer panel discussion about the film and its subject, Alzheimer's disease. He will be joined by Dr. Marwan Sabbagh, an Alzheimer’s expert at Banner Sun Health Research Institute, as well as Karen Wellert of Adultcare Assistance Homecare.
Following the screening and panel discussion, Sabbagh will sign his best-selling book "The Alzheimer’s Answer" and be available to answer more questions. Refreshments will be served.
