Car rolls over, kills Surprise man

 A 63-year-old Surprise man was killed and his 62-year-old wife injured Wednesday night when their vehicle rolled over them in front of their home, police said.

The incident occurred in the 18600 block of North Fresca Court about 6:30 p.m.  Initial reports indicate the couple was leaving their home and had stopped in the driveway to inspect their vehicle, police said.  They were out checking on the vehicle when it began to roll backward down the driveway.  They attempted to stop the vehicle but fell and were trapped underneath.

Officers responding to the call were able to lift the vehicle with automotive jacks from their patrol cars.  Fire personnel began treating the couple, transporting the husband by helicopter and the wife by ambulance.  Both were taken to John C. Lincoln North.  The wife was treated for non-life threatening injuries.  The husband was later pronounced dead.    

 The incident is still under investigation, but police said it appears to be "a tragic accident."
