Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett will host a special ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday, heralding the arrival of historic gun barrels from the USS Arizona and USS Missouri in Phoenix.

The barrels will be incorporated into a World War II memorial to be built in Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza.

Joining Bennett will be legislators, state and local officials, representatives from Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Director Joey Strickland of Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services, Phoenix Rotary 100 President Jon Bauman and community partners who have been instrumental in the first phase of the project to transport the artifacts from the East Coast to Arizona.
