Sun Health Services has promoted Coiya Tompkins to the new position of vice president, corporate communications and public relations.
The promotion was announced Tuesday by Ron Guziak, chief executive officer and president of Sun Health.
Sun Health is a community-based health organization providing comprehensive senior living options, signature community health programs as well as serving as the fundraising partner for Banner Boswell Medical Center, Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center and the Banner Sun Health Research Institute.
“In less than two years under Coiya’s leadership, Sun Health has re-established its brand identity and reconnected the Sun Health name to the community,” Guziak said. “Her creative efforts to promote Sun Health both locally and nationally have been outstanding, and she certainly has earned this promotion.”
Since November 2010, Tompkins has served as the nonprofit organization’s director of marketing and public relations.
During that time, Tompkins has developed and implemented a comprehensive and strategic rebranding effort for the more than 40-year-old organization while Sun Health has acquired three senior living communities and developed new community health programs.
“I feel fortunate to work alongside a community so dedicated to enriching the lives of residents, patients and volunteers,” Tompkins said. Tompkins previously served as director of marketing for Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. In that role, she oversaw all internal and external marketing strategies for the 300-bed-plus facility.
Tompkins also served for seven years as public relations director for nonprofit Banner Health. Tompkins, a Phoenix resident, has an MBA from the University of Phoenix as well as a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from North Dakota State University.
