GLENDALE, AZ - A 17-month-old boy lost his life Wednesday night after being found in a backyard pool.
Fire Department spokesman Michael Young said the toddler was in the pool for up to 15 minutes before he was found face and down and not breathing.
Young said family members performed CPR on the boy before firefighters arrived to the home near 75th Avenue and Union Hills Drive.
Young said the back arcadia door to the home was closed, but there was a built-in doggy door the boy may have escaped through.
Officials said there was a pool fence in the backyard, but it had not been assembled yet.
The toddler was taken to Thunderbird Good Samaritan Hospital where he later died.
The little boy's name has not been released yet.
