Testing set for Yuma desalting plant
Comments 0 | Recommend 0YUMA, Ariz. (AP) — It's been sitting idle for years, but there's word the federal government is ready to shake off the cobwebs and fire up the Yuma desalting plant for a pilot run sometime in May.
Bureau of Reclamation's Lower Colorado Region Regional Director Lorri Gray-Lee said Monday the pilot run is a collaborative effort with water agencies from Arizona, California and Nevada.
Government officials said the test run has been under consideration for some time.
Gray-Lee said the May test will provide information about the plant's capability to reliably produce water that could help conservation efforts along the Colorado River including Lakes Mead and Mohave.
