Woman scares off burglar
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A woman living in a gated Surprise community discovered a burglar in her home at approximately 4 p.m. Monday, scaring off the intruder but not before he stole her husband's wallet.
The burglary occurred at a home on the 14600 block of Whispering Wind Trail.
The homeowner said the suspect, described as a white male, approximately 5 foot 6 came out of her bedroom holding some of her belongings. The suspect ran out the front door of the residence in an unknown direction with the wallet.
The incident is being investigated by Surprise Police.
"Even homes in gated communities can fall victim to crime if not secured properly" stated Sgt. Mark Ortega.
The Surprise Police Department's Crime Prevention Unit encourages residents of Surprise to take advantage of free security checks for their homes and businesses.
