Vistancia garage sale nets giant donation for Goodwill

Vistancia residents staged a community-wide garage sale April 5 to collect donations for Goodwill of Central Arizona.

With more than 55 homes participating, Valley bargain hunters followed maps listing the sale locations in the north Peoria community, northwest of Lake Pleasant Road and Happy Valley Parkway.

The annual event was sponsored by the Vistancia Village Homeowners Association.

More than 20,000 pounds of donated items were collected for Goodwill of Central Arizona, which was in the Mountain Vista Club parking lot to accept donations of gently used clothing and household items. The donations will help create revenue for the charity's job skills training and job placement programs.

Shoppers also took advantage of a model home furniture sale by Maracay Homes. Vistancia's eight builders recently unveiled new models with updated interior decorations, rendering the old model home furniture expendable.

"We're grateful to those residents who were able to give to such a worthy charity and happy to see that our sale was such a hit," said Vistancia lifestyle director Monica Crook. "It was great to see everyone come out ahead with this event."

For information on the event, call 623-933-6233 or visit www.vistancia.com.
