Tucson man gets prison in deadly drug deal
Comments 0 | Recommend 0TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A Tucson man who set up a drug deal that turned fatal has been sentenced to five years in prison.
Pima County prosecutors say 33-year-old Ahbram Avalos claimed he gave Rosendo Ortega a large amount of cocaine to sell and then set up a drug deal between Ortega and two women last July.
Prosecutors told the Arizona Daily Star that the women decided to rob the 20-year-old Ortega instead, enlisted some help and Ortega was shot to death when things went awry.
Avalos pleaded guilty last month to transportation of a narcotic drug for sale and was facing up to 12½ years in prison when he was sentenced Monday.
