Surprise Senior Center lines up January classes

The Surprise Senior Center will offer several  classes in January. They include:

Chair Yoga - starting at 10 a.m. Jan. 13. This six-session class meets Tuesdays. Participants will enjoy relaxing yoga exercises without getting down on the floor. Cost is $30 for residents, $35 for nonresidents.

Beginner Quilting - starts Jan. 20 and meets at 1 p.m. Tuesdays for six weeks. Learn the basics of quilting and paper piecing technique as you create placemats. Class is free for residents of Surprise and $3 for nonresidents. At the first class, a materials list will be provided, allowing students to select and purchase their own colors/materials to match their personal décor. 

Mosaic Stepping Stone - 10 a.m. Jan. 12, 26 and Feb. 2. Perfect for the garden or entryway. $10 materials fee, $13 for nonresidents.

Genealogy for Beginners - 10 a.m. Jan. 13 and 20. Learn the basics of collecting a family history. The class culminates with a carpool field trip to the West Valley Genealogy Library in Youngtown Jan. 27. Cost is $2 per session to cover handouts, and there is a nominal fee for library admission.
