The Challenger Space Center is looking for local businesses, service organizations and artisans to take part in its first Holiday Street Faire and Farmers Market Dec. 6 on the grounds of the Peoria facility.
Set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the fair will include a variety of handmade and specialty items including jewelry, candles, arts and crafts, computer items, furniture and a complete farmers market with fruits, vegetables and other organic foods.
The center is looking for vendors to sell their products and services, with an emphasis on local companies, service providers and small businesses. There will be an area for families, schools and other nonprofits to sell items or seek donations.
"We think this is a wonderful way to celebrate local companies in the Peoria and West Valley areas," said Greg Stiles, media and community relations director for the Challenger Space Center. "We'll have entertainment and food available, and it will be a great opportunity to find one-of-a-kind gifts for the holidays."
For $20, a vendor will have a 10-by-10-foot booth, $40 for a 10-by-20-foot space, and $60 for a 10-by-30 foot booth. Peoria residents can have their own "garage sale" at the Arts & Crafts Faire, too. For a vendor application or for information, call 623-322-2006.
In honor of the day, the Challenger Space Center will offer free admission and hands-on demonstrations on the programs available to schools, families and seniors.
The Challenger Space Center is at 21170 N. 83rd Ave., just off Loop 101 and Union Hills Drive exit. For information, call 623-322-2001 or visit www.azchallenger.org.
